Hi, my name is Julie, and I created Dumbbells & Cream (D&C) to document my journey of total body transformation through fitness and good eating.
I wouldn't say I was ever fat per se (at 5 ft 5, I was 135-140 lbs at my heaviest). But then, I've never been fit either. My original life philosophy was, "Don't move if you don't have to." I was one of those kids in school that was bad in gym, gasped through the required 1 mile run and was always one of the last to get picked on team sports.
And so my body has always been "soft", and having a pale complexion I've always thought of my body as being a thinner version of that of the Pillsbury Doughboy.
But then, I've always harboured a dream of having a super-hot bikini-worthy body all my life, and have attempted to achieve it through one stupid diet after another. In fact, I've been on a perpetual "diet" all my life, which means it's never really worked. And the primary reason is because of my love (or even obsession) with food, especially all things sweet and creamy....hmmmmm.
But, I'm turning a new leaf in my life and I'm going to do things the right way. And so, Dumbbells & Cream is the marriage between my life's two obsessions now: fitness and food! Hence, the name "Dumbbells & Cream."
Along the way I know I'll hit bumps and get side-tracked, but it's overcoming these challenges that are the best lessons in life.
